Ann graduated as a registered nurse from City Hospital in Saskatoon.  She worked at Harper Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, where she met Rusty Robinson.  Following Rusty's death, Ann became a private nurse to Col. R. S. (Sam) McLaughlin.

The job entailed travel to exciting locales which Ann enjoyed immensely.  Ann met and married Lew McConkey, who worked with the Oshawa Board of Trade.  Following Lew’s death, Ann married Fred Gibson.

Ann shared with Fred an abiding passion for golf.  They were early members of the Oshawa Golf and Country Club.  They wintered in Florida where they also golfed avidly.  After Fred’s death, Ann enjoyed a busy lifestyle, driving regularly from Oshawa to Fort Myers, Fla., with stopovers in Ann Arbor, Mich. and Atlanta, Georgia to visit family.

Ann enjoyed people and had a tremendous sense of fun. She leaves behind a stepdaughter, Judy Abernethy; her ‘Gr-Ann’ kids, Merrilee, David, John, Tom and Rick; and her nieces and nephews of whom David Cook, of Saskatoon, was especially supportive during Ann’s declining years.
